Spotted has been one of my highlights of fashion writing  this year. While it’s been a busy one for me as a DMU student, I’d consider it quite busy catching up on fashion news for Demon Media Online.

I love seeing the highlights of major celebrity events mainly to see what the lovely men and women are wearing to the A-list events. My favourite highlights have been this years Oscars, the Punk-themed MET Ball and the abundance of Music Award Ceremonies that have taken place. To look back to some of the best fashion of 2013, seeing as we’re about to step out of Christmas and into New Year, I’ve decided to do a special edition of Spotted, where I roundup all of the best dresses and outfits of the year.

Up first is January through to April.

January was quite the busy month in 2013 with events including the Golden Globes, the People’s Choice Awards, the SAG Awards and the Inauguration of President Barack Obama. And with these events, some amazing outfits followed.

At the Berlin Premiere for the incredible Django Unchained, which starred Jamie Foxx and Leonardo DiCaprio, Kerry Washington attended the red-carpeted event in the white Louis Vuitton checkerboard dress, which was loved by all at the Spring/Summer 2013 show last year. White was definitely the colour for this years Spring/Summer season and Kerry showed it in it’s finest with a matching bow and stiletto heels.

On the 12th of January, the gorgeous Sienna Miller attended the BAFTA Tea Party in LA in a gorgeous pink Valentino dress from the Spring/Summer 2013 Collection. The dress was a good combination to add to her laidback waves, soft pink lipstick, a to-die-for dewy skin tone and nude heels.

The second month of 2013 was a month dedicated to Fashion. Some like to call February ‘Fashion Month’ due to London, Paris, New York and Milan fashion week all happening consecutively. But where Fashion Month isn’t concerned, The Oscars are.

You know it’s coming, but one of my favourite outfits from February 2013 (and every other month to follow for the rest of my life) is the Dior-loving, Hunger Games starring, funny girl Jennifer Lawrence. Apart from the trip on stage to collect her award for Best Actress for The Silver Linings Playbook, which she did starring alongside Bradley Cooper, Jennifer shone the entire night. The drop-waist Dior gown should be remembered for all of time as one of the best Oscar outfits EVER.

Before the Oscars happened, us Brits had something else to look forward to in the shape of the Brit Awards, which honours British acts in the music industry as well as our favourite international stars. Taylor Swift attended the event in a GORGEOUS black ELIE SAAB dress with two thigh-high splits and a gold belt. Her equally golden hair was straight, shiny and envy inducing. If only I could pull of a fringe like that!

March is known to always be a quiet month in the Fashion Industry. Yet it saw the Nickelodeon Kid’s Choice Awards and the premiere of the film I had been anticipating for several years: The Host, starring Saoirse Ronan, Diane Kruger and Max Irons.

The star of the aforementioned film, Saoirse Ronan, attended the LA leg of the premieres in a gorgeous burgundy satin dress from Lanvin’s Spring/Summer 2013 collection. With the dress, which was short and sleeveless, Saoirse wore black court shoes. A simple yet devastatingly gorgeous outfit!

At the Kid’s Choice Awards, Twilight Star Kristen Stewart showed her fashionable side, wearing a black and blue top and matching shorts from Osman Yousefzada’s pre-autumn/winter 2013-14 collection. On her feet, Kristen wore Christian Loboutin heels. With a lack of accessories, Kristen Stewart begins to pave the way for the minimal look for events, premieres and parties to follow…

The month of April is known for it’s showers here in the UK, but it was also a heavy month for not only an abundance of news – including the death of Margaret Thatcher – but it was also host to some events including the MTV Movie Awards, The Vogue Fester and Coachella.

For a screening of the film Disconnect, the third Olsen sister, Elizabeth, wore distressed skinny jeans, black ankle boots, an oversized coat/blazer with leather sleeves and a Chanel bag. I love this look because of its simplicity. Elizabeth, like her sisters Mary-Kate and Ashley, is known for her sense of self and knowing her own style. It screams powerful and strong femininity with a sense of grunge – which I love!

At Coachella, Queen of Festival get-up and boho chic, Kate Bosworth wore a gorgeous sheer black dress with a plain dress underneath with an embroidered waistcoat and a brown satchel. But can we just focus on those ankle boots? I love some chunky, grunge boots as much as the next girl, but I am in love with the pointed boots that Kate wore. Wow!
