Netball 1st team against University of Oxford in the BUCS Conference Cup

Netball 1st team against University of Oxford in the BUCS Conference Cup

First round of Conference Cup sees Netball 1st and 2nd teams out but not without a fight.

Netball 1st team match report:

After playing Oxford last week, DMU 1sts wanted revenge. They brought all the stops out this week as they were determined to win! DMU started of strong with some great passing, and some good teamwork between all members of the team. DMU shooters, Vicki Bayes, Georgia Barnes and Joanna Eden were succeeding by getting goal after goal in, which helped to lead to a DMU win at half time of 20-15.

After half-time, both DMU and Oxford knew how close the score was and both were determined to win. The game was intense, with the ball going up and down the court and both Oxford and DMU getting many goals in during these times. However when it came down to the final whistle, the final score was 32-28 to Oxford. The game was a close game all throughout and Oxford were surprised they had won. The DMU girls were happy though as it was a massive improvement from their score last week of 39-13.

Even-though the girls tried their best, they are now out of the conference cup. However the girls will be playing Oxford at the QE2 Gym on the 4th February at 5:15pm, and now they are even more determined to win!
