Students that are staying in Leicester over the Christmas period are being invited to attend a special festive event organised by the DMU Gospel Choir.
The Winter Fellowship Dinner, which is free to attend and takes place on Christmas Day, will see a Christmas buffet provided by the Emmanu’-EL Apostolic Church, prepared by EL-Ellah Catering.
Before sitting down to eat, there will be chance to join the Gospel Choir in some carol singing and be a part of a history of Christmas workshop.
The event is seen as an opportunity for students – particularly those from an international background – to make new friendships in a warm and friendly environment.
Ellah Kandi, DMU Gospel Choir coordinator and managing director of EL-Ellah Catering, said: “As an organisation whose foundation was built on strong Christian principles, we believe in taking care of others and doing to them, the things which we would love to be done to us.”
DMU’s vice chancellor, Professor Dominic Shellard, said: “I would encourage students to attend if they are on campus on Christmas Day.
“The event is always very lively and there is good food, music and company on offer.
“The event helps to lift spirits of those who are away from their family at Christmas time and, having attended myself in previous years, can recommend it as a very friendly and welcoming experience.”
