How long have you been in DMU Comedy Society?
I’ve been in the comedy society for two fabulous years now, and have enjoyed every minute of it.
Why did you join?
I joined accidentally, but don’t let that put you off! My next-door-neighbour was a member and took me to a gig, there were too many friendly faces to keep me away for long.
Who is your/are your favourite comedians?
It changes every week but right now: Russell Brand, Sarah Millican, Bill Bailey, Russell Howard, Miranda Hart, Jon Richardson, Sean Walsh and Josh Widdicombe have got to be up there.
How would you describe Comedy Society?
Honestly, the comedy society is the biggest bunch of misfits joined together by one common love. But they’ll become some of the strongest friends you’ll get at uni and give you a guaranteed laugh, even after the initial euphoria of freshers is over.
What was your favourite Comedy Society moment?
It’s tricky, because they’re all so different. But when it comes down it gorging on deep fried mars bars on the Royal Mile at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival comes tops…or meeting my boyfriend…I suppose.
Why should freshers join Comedy Society?
Comedy has got to be one of the most welcoming societies DMU has to offer. It’s a great opportunity to make new friends from all walks of life who can always put you in a good mood. It’s not all about performing – I never have and don’t intend to; it’s about having a laugh and pulling together. It’s incredibly light hearted, and dead easy to fit around your degree and other societies. Just come to a social and give it a go.
