Leicester is set to be taken over by an array of acts at the end of May, at this year’s inaugural Handmade Festival. LARGE_POSTER

The music and arts festival, which will run between the 24th and 26th May at various venues throughout the city, will play host to a variety of comedy, music, art, film and photography from both local, national, and international performers and artists.

Based in Leicester, festival curator John Helps and the entire team behind the festival have been organising, running and bringing shows to the city for the past decade. Five years ago, they launched a bi-annual event in December and January, appropriately titled White Noise Christmas and White Noise Summer. This year they have worked tirelessly to take the next step, creating the first ever Handmade Festival.

Highlights include alternative metal band Rolo Tomassi, post-grunge/indie rock quartet Nine Black Alps, top comedians James Acaster, Rob Deering and well-known local acts Grace Petrie, Speaking in Italics and Dark Dark Horse.

After the festival, the Firebug bar will hold an after party, hosted by comedian Robin Ince, featuring special guests.

Demon Media will be on hand to cover the festival, and will be posting exclusive interviews with performers and others involved in the run up to the festival. Keep checking the site for new content.

Handmade Festival runs from the 24th to the 26th May. Weekend tickets cost £25:00 and day tickets are £10:00. Tickets for the after party, hosted by Robin Ince’s Dirty Book Club, are £10:00 and are not included in the weekend ticket.
