TOP-DOGS: Arctic Monkeys are up for eight gongs at this year’s NME Awards

Sheffield’s Arctic Monkeys are the band leading the shortlists at this year’s NME Awards, with a whopping eight nominations.

The band – who’s 2013 included the release of their latest LP AM and a headline slot at Glastonbury – have been nominated for Best British Band, Best Live Band and Best Album for AM, amongst others.

This year’s awards, sponsored by Austin, Texas, are set to take place at London’s Brixton O2 Academy on Wednesday, February 26.

Other top nominated bands include Haim – who received six shortlist nominations including Best International Band – alongside Queens of the Stone Age and Arcade Fire, who picked up three nominations each.

Glastonbury Festival, Reading & Leeds and T In The Park are once again three of the six festivals battling it out for the Best Festival gong, whilst Rockness, Kendall Calling and Y Not are fighting it out for the title of Best Small Festival.
