Taster session: There will be a free taster session at Swadlincote ski centre once confirmation has been received about the available dates it can be held.

Training: This year there will be a lot going on as we are aiming to have three different types of training. These will be beginner training, race training (for our race events throughout the year) and freestyle training for those who wish to push themselves and feel the adrenaline of taking to the ramps along with the chance to face off against Leicester University in varsity.

Match and league info: Our races take place on selected Saturdays throughout the year at Akers in Birmingham against various other universities. Travel for the races is provided.

Social: Our social night is every Wednesday night which will start at the turkey café and will end in the Students Union bar with various other places in between. On the social side of the society there is more to us than just a good night out we have members from all different courses and in different years of study along with different walks of life.

Chairperson: Ryan Camm, 3rd year, Mechanical Engineering

What were the clubs accomplishments in the previous season?

Our accomplishments last season were that we had two successful tours; one at Christmas to Val D’isere and the second to Tignes at Easter. We just lost out to Leicester university at varsity on the score basis of 3-2. And we successfully attended all races with two entry teams.

What are your aspirations for this season?

This season we are offering more training in the style of race and freestyle, given from some of the best at wasteland ski who is our tour company this year, in order to win varsity as it was a narrow defeat last year. Also this year we are offing a Christmas tour to Les Deux Alps and to make it even better we will be there during the Rise Festival and have access to all the events with live music, ski and board competitions.

Most memorable moment from last year?

The most memorable moment from last year for me was tour to Val D’isere and going to the funicular party. Having a party on the highest point and looking down across the mountains, the sight was amazing I have never seen anything like it before.

Why should students join Demon Ski and Board?

Students should join Demon Ski and Board because we have a great year set out this year with a lot going on from socials to training and, best of all, our Christmas tour to Les Deux Alps, the cheapest skiing holiday that you can find anywhere (provided by Wasteland ski in partnership with Rough Hill and Ibiza Rocks just for our tour). We also will be having regular meets to discuss other options of things we can do within the club and we will take on board and suggestions that you want considered. Even though we are a ski and board society we welcome anyone who doesn’t do the sports and who just wants to come along and make new friends and join in with the social side. Everyone is welcome to come along and join

Anything else?

Here at Demon Ski and Board we know how hard it can be to adapt to university life that’s why we offer the option for everyone to join because It can be hard and it can be tough and from personal experience it is easier to adapt with others rather than on your own.

To join Demon Ski and Board find them at the Sports and Societies Fair on Thursday 25th September or get in touch via the link below:
