Riverside Pharmacy are running sessions at De Montfort Students’ Union this week to help you quit smoking.

The visits are part of the national ‘Stoptober’ campaign which encourages people to give up smoking for the month of October.

Trained advisors will visit the students’ union to show students how stopping smoking can make a huge difference not only to your health but to your wallet.

The sessions will be held on Monday October 6, Tuesday October 7 and Thursday October 9, between 12.30 and 2pm.

The pharmacy staff will be available to talk to about the free NHS Stop Smoking Service they provide and also give you advice about nicotine replacement products.

They will also conduct free carbon monoxide tests to measure your levels of carbon monoxide which is often successful when used as a motivational tool to help smokers to see the benefits of giving up smoking.

There will also be lots of free materials and information available to take home, as well as a limited number of ‘NHS Quit Kits’, which contain a box of practical tools and advice developed with experts, smokers and ex-smokers, which have helped thousands of smokers.
