With DMU’s Placement Power gearing up for their next event, I caught up with committee member, Tobi Tayo, to find out more about what the society are offering.
What will be taking place?
The Interactive Assessment Centre will be a chance to experience and take part in the kind of activities you’ll experience in a real assessment centre. We’ll be running three different tasks in the session that gives members the chance to work on communication, leadership and teamwork skills. Committee members will be giving advice and tips on how to portray yourself and providing hints we’ve picked up from our assessment centre experiences.
Why is the event being run?
This event is being put on because the reality of assessment centres can be somewhat daunting. Familiarising yourself with the environment and the pressures of the activities can prepare you for when the real thing happens. The exercises put on at these centres are designed to identify a wide range of skills and personal attributes required for the job. This preview into the kind of exercises put on will hopefully give some insight and allow members an idea on areas they need to focus on.
Who is it open to?
This event is open to Placement Power Members. To join our society, please visit our DSU page (below) and sign up.
Where and when will it be?
The event will take place in the Queens Building in room 0.11 at 5:30pm.
(There will be free snacks and drinks!)
