The 72nd Golden Globe awards took place on January 11th at The Beverly Hilton, and being the first award ceremony of the year, it was certainly spectacular. All the guests turned up in their finest for the ceremony, but let’s take a look at the people who really stood out this evening.
Emma: She may have missed out on a Golden Globe for Best Original Song, but in true Lorde style she broke the dress boundaries by going all black with a pair of high-waisted trousers and a crop top; and this is why we love her. The simplicity of this custom made Narciso Rodriguez outfit carried through with her makeup and hair. With her slicked back low ponytail and basic eyeliner and dark red lipstick, she knows how to win over a crowd. The look was finished off with a diamond Neil Lane Necklace, which she mentioned in an interview about how scared she was to wear it due to the cost!
Anna: Belle of the ball, Anna Kendrick was certainly one of our favourites when she arrived on the red carpet for the Golden Globes in the most stunning Monique Lhullier gown. The contrast of the magenta speckles on the blush material was no shock against Anna’s pale complexion. Similarly, the plunging neckline of the gown really complimented her figure and allowed her to go a little crazier with her hair, however, she opted for a slick back style and it worked super well!

Emma: Eddie Redmayne, who beat Benedict Cumberbatch and David Oyelowo as Best Actor for The Theory of Everything, turned up to the awards in this gorgeous suit by Gucci. The velvet black jacket combined with plain suit trousers is really in fashion right now. The beautiful outlining around the collar and front helps to outline his figure, and the black bowtie and Chopart watch is a perfect finish to the whole outfit.

Anna: Rosamund Pike really isn’t going to be a ‘Gone Girl’ with THIS killer choice. Sorry, I had to! Her white Vera Wang gown with incredibly thin spaghetti straps made a real difference to the rest of the contrasting gowns that were either strapless or with thicker straps. It’s known that most are against the ‘cut-out’ dress that seems to dip in and out of style, Rosamund really brings some edge to the Golden Globes, but with the choice of a red or (the most current) ‘Marsala’ colour being in at the moment, she took a spin on things and opted for a nude lip rather than contrasting too much against her Daz-white dress!

Emma: With her beautiful new fresh but elegantly wavy bob, Sienna Miller went one step further to show off that stunning figure. This Miu Miu metallic dress with a plunging neck line was a risk worth taking. The creamed metallic coloured dress is perfectly finished off with minimalistic jewels and some bolder ones around the neck line. Complementing this finish, her silver jewelled earrings and bracelets helped to bring the outfit together.

Anna: While others ogled over the skin-tight dresses in interesting colours by incredibly famous designers, I couldn’t help but stare in admiration at Kristen Wiig’s vintage choice for the Golden Globes. The off-the-shoulder white dress with a subtle floral pattern with a slight sheen was a total winner in my eyes! Opting for a Sienna Miller-style hairdo, Kristen really embraced her style and allowed her to stand apart from the others.

Emma: From rags to riches, Joanne Froggatt, winner of the Best Supporting TV Actress for her character Anna Bates in Downton Abbey, dazzled us with this stunning gown from Marchesa. This black strapless fitted dress with the subtle flower jewelled design compliments her beautiful figure perfectly. If she wasn’t stunning enough, her halo braid and earrings help to elongate her neck and body, making her stand out against more well-known actors and actresses.

Anna: Girls star, Zosia Mamet, brought her usual edgy-meets-feminine style to the award ceremony in this grey and pink contrast gown by Andrew GN. What I love most about this particular outfit choice by Zosia is how both the grey and pink are in a pastel form, but still works incredibly well together, not only looking great for the Golden Globes, but also on Zosia and her slightly new choice of blonde hair (which looks great by the way!). The peplum top gives the dress a great structure that is not only complimentary, but unusual with the stark a-line of the skirt. Hats off to you, Zosia!
