On 20 February, DMU’s Law Society will be holding their annual ball.

The prestigious affair is to take place from 19:00pm at the Belmont Hotel, and will follow a Great Gatsby theme as well as being a black tie event.

Jessica O’Gorman, Chair of the society, said: “It is a prestigious yet informal event.”

With both lecturers and students invited, the event will allow members of DMU to rub shoulders with industry professionals.

O’Gorman said: “This year we have a very exciting special guest who is an incredible criminal advocate who has worked in the high court.”

At just £30 a ticket (plus a supplementary £5 for non-member), attendees will be treated to a drinks upon arrival, and a three-course sit down dinner which will be followed by teas and coffees.

Adding to this, speeches and entertainment will be provided on the night until 12:00am.

Tickets for the event can be purchased from committee members directly who will be setting up stands outside of Hugh Aston 0.10 between 13.00pm-14.00pm on Monday afternoons.

In the run up to the event, the society is on the look-out for students who are willing to help out in the yearly ball. At the moment, the society has yet to recruit a photographer. As a result, the group are offering the job to a DMU student.

O’Gorman said: “Ideally we want to give the opportunity to a photography student who wants to help boost their portfolio.”

Volunteering for this role is considerably easy; all you have to do is express your interest via email, addressed to Jessica herself.

The email address is p12211139@myemail.dmu.ac.uk which may also be used for tickets and further enquiries.
