After days of rumoured speculation, it has been confirmed that Rihanna is the new face of Dior!
In doing so she has made history as she will be the first black woman to front the French fashion house. Taking over the fashion house following the likes of previous ambassadors from the likes of Audrey Hepburn, Marilyn Monroe and the current Charlize Theron, Rihanna is set to star in the next instalment of Dior’s Secret Garden campaign, scheduled to run this Spring.
This is huge as it not only opens doors for more diversity across the brand but also within the fashion industry itself. It was just earlier this year that Jourdan Dunn also broke the all-white streak by gracing the cover of February Issue of British Vogue, which made her the first black woman to have a solo cover for the magazine since Naomi Campbell in 2010.
Nevertheless I look forward to seeing the film and print campaigns of her in a Dior sequined gown in the lavish Palace of Versailles, ah J’adore!
