Curve Theatre has taken on an exciting and fresh project with their latest production, Bollywood Jane. Rehearsals are underway and the community production musical is going to be running in the theatre’s Studio space between the 2nd and 11th of August. Bollywood Jane being a community production means that there are over 30 people from all around Leicester and the county participating in this vibrant, Bollywood-inspired play. Sparkling saris, big choreographies and a little taste of Leicester’s Golden Mile is what audiences can expect from the tale of 16-year-old Jane and her friendship/romance with local boy and cinema co-worker Dini. Jane’s technicolour daydreams, which are inspired by the world of the Bollywood blockbuster Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge, create a colourful and vibrant atmosphere to this musical, that brings Curve even further into the heart of the local community.

Rav Moore, who plays Dini said “It’s an exciting project to get involved with. The show is set in Leicester and involves the local community…” Rebekah Flemming, playing Jane’s mother, Kate, expressed her enthusiasm about the project and the script, saying it is “pacey, funny and an opportunity to learn about another culture that I’ve always been fascinated by”.

Bollywood Jane is directed by Siobhán Cannon-Brownlie and is choreographed by Kesha Raithatha.

The show will star Chloe Wilson and Phoebe Lewis, who will share the role of Jane across the run and Rav Moore in the role of Dini. Rebekah Flemming will play Jane’s single mother, Kate.

If you like impressive dance sequences, colourful costumes, romantic Bollywood songs and a big Bollywood-esque story, this is definitely the show for you!
