On Sunday night the De Montfort University Gospel Choir took to the stage on Songs of Praise in their Gospel Choir of the Year competition.

This is an annual competition hosted by the show and sees six amateur gospel choirs compete for the title in a two-part special show.

For the second year running the DMU choir has made it to the final of this competition and is not the first time they have been thrust into stardom.

Earlier this year they also won the University Gospel Choir of the Year award as well as being personally asked to perform with Kasabian in their two sold out shows.

The choir reduced one of the judges, Sharon, D Clarke to tears in a performance that can be watched online on BBC iPlayer here

The second half of this two-part special can be watched on Sunday night at 4:45pm on BBC One so make sure you support the choir and DMU.
