Heartbreakingly raw lyrics are met with melancholic piano in Kodaline’s new EP ‘Ready to Change.’ The track which speaks of the bands old friend, expresses humanly of wanting to change, screaming out for it but not being ready to. The track quickly builds into a soulful powerhouse anthem, with piano undertones entwining with drums and guitar riffs rising up to a fiercely passionate chorus.
The sincerity felt in lead singer Steve Garrigan’s voice transports the bittersweet track to a whole new level. The stunningly clever music video which accompanies the track adds a whole new dimension to Kodaline’s message behind the track.
The music video, which follows the heart-warming journey of a man that only speaks to animals, finding a friend in the woman that tends to the pandas in a zoo, sounds bizarre but will leave you with a lump in your throat.
The release of their new EP comes ahead of the bands third EP, if the beauty of this track is mirrored in their new album expect great things. It appears that Kodaline are certainly pushing the boundaries of their musical creativity, taking the necessary leap out of their comfort zone to just keep blossoming as an amazing band within their music genre.
The band are set to tour in December, with a night at the O2 Academy Brixton in the pipeline.
