If you wanted something different to do today, I highly suggest taking a walk into town to New Market Square and give Leicester’s Christmas Market a visit. With 40 stalls set up in those oh-so adorable chalets, the market is sure to be the best part of the run-up to Christmas in the city.

Open daily from the 23rd November to the 23rd December, the market is the perfect place to purchase unique gifts such as scarves, hats and candles for friends and family while also supporting local businesses. Just make sure that you have cash with you as the stalls do not accept card.

There is such a range of stalls and it is great to walk around see everyone’s hard work as most things are handmade – therefore, one of a kind – and there really is something for everyone.

Don’t worry about the food. That hasn’t been forgotten. There are plenty of stalls selling all your foodie needs, such as crepes, German sausages and luxury hot chocolates to refuel at after all that shopping. If there’s only one reason you go, you have to make it for the food!

I’d really suggest you go and take a look, even if you can’t afford to buy a lot. It’s nice to show your support for these business that are attempting to make our Christmas just that little bit more enjoyable. And, hopefully next year it will only be bigger. Although, can anything beat Birmingham’s German Market? I’m sure Leicester could try!
