With the recent success of the netball charity tournament, NetFest, DMU netball are all in high spirits. The tournament raised over £800 for Rainbows as part of RAG week. Everyone who played had a good day, with there being lots to do and get involved in. Even if you weren’t playing in the matches, other games going on between matches were great for anyone to participate in. Hannah Tulley and Lauren Mallins, Chairwoman and Vice-Chair, deserve a huge well done as on the day they were in charge of organising. Many of the netball committee also helped out in order to make the day the success it was. The bright pink t-shirts, which were sponsored by Access Commercials, are still being worn to training sessions!

There is more to look forward to, with first and second team playing in the Warwick tournament this weekend coming, the girls are all ready for some hard competition. The tournament is against teams that are much higher in the BUCS league, but DMU netball will give it everything they’ve got to get some practice in for the long awaited varsity match. The tournament includes staying the night in Warwick and playing on both Saturday and Sunday. This is a great opportunity for each team to spend time together and increase the bond they already have. This will help greatly in the run up to varsity.

Netball varsity will take pace on 19th March, with a countdown now on in training. Captains are getting tougher and training sessions are the same, all in order to choose the best teams possible. With first and second team looking likely to rank high in their leagues, the girls are more determined than ever to beat Leicester University. The girls are training three times a week and are also being encouraged to go to the gym on the other four days. Fitness is essential this year, and Chairwoman Hannah Tulley is making sure to get the girls at their highest standard.

To be able to write in a few weeks time that we have beaten Leicester University in varsity this year, will be the best feeling ever!
