This year marks the 70th anniversary of the Mostra Internazionale D’Arte Cinematografica la Biennale di Venezia. In English the ‘Venice Film Festival’. Stars who attended the festival included; James Franco, George Clooney, Sandra Bullock and Daniel Radcliffe, who played host to their new films that premiered at the longest-running film festival. While most of the films that were shown this year could be some of the most interesting and thought-provoking films of the year, some of the outfits too were just as interesting and thought-provoking.
I’ll start with Sophie Kennedy Clark, who stars in “Philomena” alongside Judi Dench and Steve Coogan. Sophie attended the premiere for Gravity in a gorgeous pastel pink Stella McCartney gown. While her makeup and hair remained gorgeously effortless, Sophie wowed fashion critics with her choice of a long sleeved dress despite being in sunny Venice. The choice of dress for me is perfect due to the colour and length which is feminine and extremely flattering.

During the festival, stars also attended the Jaeger-LeCoultre Gala Dinner on the 2nd of September. One of these stars was Diane Kruger who attended the dinner with her boyfriend Joshua Jackson, wearing a gorgeous purple velvet dress by Alberta Ferretti. Like Sophie’s Stella McCartney choice, I love Diane’s option of a long sleeved dress especially because of the Gothic feel of the dress showed. But it was perfectly balanced out with her perfectly pink lips, slicked back hair and elegant drop-down earrings.

Dakota Fanning attended the premiere to “Night Moves” at the end of August wearing a gown by one of my favourite couture designers. Her blue Elie Saab gown is from his 2013 Autumn/Winter collection, making it a perfect addition to Dakota’s amazing style track record. The 19-year-old’s beauty palette made sure that her skin looked perfectly dewy and highlighted for the event, which complimented her rose-coloured lips very well.

In honour of attending the “Miu Miu Women’s Tales” screening, Carey Mulligan wore a black Miu Miu dress with a white collar. In addition to that, she wore Prada sunglasses and Roger Vivier sandals to give the dress an extremely cool-as-a-cucumber feel. The up-do ensured that all attention was on Carey’s turtle-shell sunnies and the collar of that gorgeous dress. Makeup remained minimal but gave a bit of colour to an otherwise wonderfully monochrome outfit.

Last but certainly not least comes my favourite outfit from the Venice Film Festival courtesy of the ever-beautiful – and recently engaged – Scarlett Johansson. She wowed everybody at the premiere of “Under the Skin” with an off-the-shoulder gown by Versace, which perfectly showed off the figure that we all desire so much. Her hair, pulled away from her face, showed off the gorgeous Bulgari necklace that added some colour to her look. As ever, her gorgeous makeup choice remained minimal, however her signature red lips were swapped for a gentle pink glossy lipstick. This contrasted will to the slightly brown yet smokey look of her eyes – and like Dakota – her skin was perfectly dewy. Safe to say Scarlett’s look has been the best of the festival so far.
