De Montfort University is calling for ex-students to share their memories of concerts held at the Students’ Union.

The University has collated a list of bands that they believe to have played at the Leicester Polytechnic or De Montfort Students’ Union.

The list, which can be found at the bottom of this article, includes big name acts such as Pink Floyd; Fleetwood Mac; David Bowie; Bob Marley; U2; Ozzy Osbourne and Blur.

Frances Lund, assistant archivist at De Montfort University, said: “We would love for any alumni to get in touch with their memories and with their original materials.

“This would really help to fill the gaps in our archival holdings so that people are able to delve into the history of DMU and it’s predecessors.”

The list was originally put together by a member of David Bowie’s staff who wanted to know when he played at the union.

The archives department are now working to develop their collection of material related to the history of the student’s union.

Not all the acts on the list have been confirmed and the university is looking for people who were there to add more details and possibly more acts to the archive.

Frances added: “Photos in particular would be a goldmine as it would fill a gap in our holdings.”

If you can provide any more information about past concerts at the students’ union, get in contact by email to alumni@dmu.ac.uk.
