Nothing excites a beauty enthusiast quite like the release of a sparkly brand-new eye shadow palette. With a variety of vibrant colour stories, these aesthetically pleasing palettes can inspire hundreds of looks from just a few shades, making them arguably the greatest investment for any makeup lover.
But with so many on the market, it’s hard to know which ones to start out with. Over lockdown, I have been playing around with new colourful eye shadow palettes to create stunning looks, and throughout this I have found some of my now beloved (and reasonably priced) palettes that are perfect for beginner eye shadow connoisseurs.
So here are four of my favourite eye shadow palettes and why you should purchase them!

The palette that broke the internet. Created by famous YouTuber James Charles, the Artistry palette shook the beauty community for its breath-taking array of multi-coloured and neutral hues for an affordable and versatile eye shadow palette. You can great countless dreamy makeup looks with this 39-shade palette. The swatches prove the colours to be stunning and super pigmented. Paired with easy blending, this palette is a cult favourite making it.
2. NYX Professional Makeup Ultimate Neon Eyeshadow Palette – £16
With colours brighter than my little cousins Crayola felt tips, this NYX palette is a no-brainer for cult beauty novices. With only 16 shades ranging from matte, metallic and satin finishes, this palette packs a punch. The products are sheer to begin with but can extremely buildable and opaque, perfect for those wanting to dip their toes into a bright rainbow palette.
3. Beauty Glazed Colour Board Eyeshadow Palette – £15
TikTok’s trending eyeshadow palette with four colour stories, all containing ultra-pigmented mattes and pressed glitters. Classic earth colours, pure powder blue block, purple matching for a sense of hierarchy and green for nature and serenity; the four brilliantly created colour blocks are ideal and beautiful for complementing colour looks. Working out to be twenty-five pence-per-shade, it is safe to say that this palette is the most worth it from this list! Made to be hypoallergenic, this is skin-friendly and cruelty free. The pigmentation of the shades is unmistakable, and for a TikTok trend, this palette is well worth the money!
4. Revolution X Patricia Bright Rich In Colour Eyeshadow Palette – £20
This is hands down my favourite of the bunch. YouTuber and beauty mogul, Patricia Bright, teamed up with Revolution to bring an exciting new capsule makeup collection, including the Rich in Colour palette. This cruelty-free and vegan palette comes with one of the trendiest colour groupings, perfect for your wildest imaginative eye looks. Packed with shimmers, mattes and pressed glitters, this palette has enough shades to fuel eye look books for days. Ultra-pigmented and silky smooth, the Rich in Colour palette is adaptable with both neon bright colours and neutral shades.
