This January, winter inspired makeup looks are sure to keep you radiant all season long, whether you are staying cosy indoors, heading to a winter gathering with friends and family or going to university. These looks will give you the perfect base and glam to perfect the day.

Contoured glow for a sculpted face in the winter gives a glowy aura and designs a natural finish, when you have applied your base (primer and foundation). Cream and liquid bronzers highlight the cheekbones and your nose to become more defined, some great bronzers are, Chanel cream bronzer, Makeup by Mario soft sculpt transforming skin enhancer, Saie dew bronze soft, Elf Cosmetics liquid bronzer. However, to mattify your base, the perfect setting powder to blur your face and stay clear of creases is the Huda beauty setting powder, it is a loose powder that can be applied with a powder puff and is amazing for keeping your makeup in place all day.

For rosy glam, rosy cheeks paired with a shimmering lid are ideal for the season. The flushed glow mimics the effect of the brisk winter air. Creamy and liquid blushes are a must for a radiant glow and powder blushes are more for a matte look. The best creamy and liquid blushes I would recommend are, Rare Beauty by Selena Gomez, Charlotte Tilbury –Pinkgasm wand, Huda Beauty liquid blush. These blushes will give you a luminous look and they are worth the purchase as they last a long time and are very pigmented. With powder blushes you can use the two-faced blushes, NARS, NYX butter melt blush.

For shimmery lids, you can create a beautiful look by adding a nude on top, a glittery shade either with a thin brush or even your finger for an easier application as more product is able to stick. The Huda Beauty nude palette has many glitter shades that offer that winter look. However, for a more affordable shimmer you can purchase the Revolution glitter palette.

Neutral elegance, matte browns, and nudes are necessary for the winter, the classic look is all about soft and earthy tones. Neutral matte eyeshadows, specifically in taupe or warm brown creates subtle depth on the eyes. With a nude lip or brown added with a hint of gloss creates a flawless base. Charlotte Tilbury have their ‘super nudes easy eye palette’ or you can opt for a more affordable palette with Beauty Bay’s own branded nude palette. With lipglosses, there are many to choose from ranging from all different prices – Fenty Beauty, by Rihanna, has a variety of beautiful shades and makes your lips breathtaking; for a more affordable choice you cannot go wrong with a NYX butter gloss.

Defining your eyes for a winter look adds to the finishing touches. Eyeliner that is either for a sharp wing or a soft cat eye effect builds a captivating look, you can easily purchase eyeliner from your local Boots or Superdrug, a great eyeliner is the NYX waterproof ink liquid liner as it is long lasting to wear. Whether you are a mascara or eyelashes type of person, adding either one creates depth to the eye. The Maybelline lash sensational mascara and their sky-high mascara are great to use. As for eyelashes, Huda Beauty has quality eyelashes in a vast variety of assorted styles, each suited for any eye shape, however you can again go to your local high street stores and find alternate eyelashes there.

In an attempt to keep your makeup strong and long lasting throughout a winter’s day, you need a powerful setting spray to lock it in place. The Charlotte Tilbury airbrush setting spray, the Urban Decay all nighter and one size-on till dawn setting spray, all make sure that your makeup is set and wont budge all day and night.

As this season brings your makeup look to a balance, playing with a bold look while maintaining a matte base or going for soft nudes or statement pinks, they all will have you embracing the cold in style and in flawless glam. Which one will you try first?
