A performing arts student at De Montfort University has made it into the finals of Miss Birmingham 2015.
Jazzmin Davis, 21, beat more than 600 other girls to be one of 40 people in the final of the competition.
After being asked by the regional director to apply for the competition, Jazzmin didn’t plan on entering until she found out what it was really about.
She said: “I found out that the main focus of the competition is to raise as much money for charity as possible and that is such a lovely thing to do and be able to be a part of.”
Jazzmin and the other finalists are required to raise as much money as possible for the charity ‘Beauty with a Purpose’, which helps disadvantaged children and is the official charity of the Miss World competition.
“Using my title I can create more awareness and help raise more money for charity. I have already created an event to raise money for lymphatic cancer which is separate to the competition and will not be counted as part of my charity fundraising amount.”
Jazzmin is a third year student at DMU and hopes that everyone at the university will support her.
She said: “I have already worked so hard alongside my studies and there’s a lot more to do too.
“I’m working to the best of my ability in my studies as well as this competition and I’m not letting either be effected by each other.
“I want to do well in this competition as I’m giving it my all and want to see where it takes me. It’s such a great opportunity and fun to be a part of.”
Jazzmin is hosting a fashion event on the first floor of the campus centre tomorrow from 11am to 6pm and a concert at 8pm to raise money for the charity ‘Beauty with a Purpose’.
