These days, celebrities have an impeccable taste in style, designer and look. Where better to show this? The red carpet. When the red carpet rolls out, invites are spread far and wide to ensure that these famous men and women with all kinds of talents show off their recent looks. While Coachella, the Met Ball, the Oscars and even the Brits have passed, showing us some spectacular dresses and suits from our favourite people in showbiz. What do we have next to look forward to?

This year, Cannes Film Festival are showcasing some films which we are most definitely over-excited for, such as ‘The Great Gatsby’. Stars like Cara Delevingne, Nicole Kidman and the stars of the premiering films travelled to Cannes, beautiful gowns in hand ready for the main event.

Cannes Film Festival showcases films and documentaries of all different genres from all over the world, making it one of the best film festivals.  After its many years as one of the most famous Film Festivals, it has also become one of the most prestigious due to its taste and the awards given by the jury.

So who looked the best? Well in my opinion, there were so many leading ladies who wore gowns that took my breath away.

Here are a few of my personal favourite from Cannes Film Festival:

Emma Watson arrived on the red carpet for the premier of her new film ‘The Bling Ring’. She wore a Chanel Couture dress with a sequined bodice. Her makeup, like her accessories, was very minimal, which gave Emma a perfect opportunity to ensure all eyes were on the fabulous couture dress.

Fan Bingbing chose a dress from one of my all-time favourite designers. The Elie Saab dress from his 2013 collection made a great contrast to her dark hair and red lips. Fan was definitely one of the most glamorous there and teamed her lemon dress with some sparkling accessories!

You know her as the lead in ‘The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo’ and I know her as one of my favourite style icons. Rooney Mara. She is now the new face of Calvin Klein’s new fragrance, and attended Calvin Klein’s Women in Film party amongst others. Rooney wore a rose dress from the Calvin Klein collection and made sure her hair was in her signature pulled-back style.

Ever-glamorous model Cara Delevingne wore a lace Burberry dress with a low, plunging neck to the premiere of the eagerly anticipated film ‘The Great Gatsby’. Her outfit was glittered in Chopard diamonds which were also loaned to some other famous stars on the red carpet.

Nicole Kidman was one of the few ladies who wore Dior Couture to the different events during Cannes Film Festival. At ‘The Great Gatsby’ premier, Nicole wore one of Dior’s dresses from their 2013 collection; similar in style to the gown that Jennifer Lawrence wore to The Oscars earlier this year.

But who tops the as best dressed list at this year’s Cannes Film Festival? For me, it has to be the leading lady in ‘The Great Gatsby’ who, like Nicole Kidman, wore Dior Couture to the event. Carey Mulligans simple, floor-length Dior gown topped ‘the best dressed’ lists of every fashion-based website I could see. But it wasn’t just the dress that had critics going crazy – it was her beauty choice as well. Carey’s red lips and perfectly dewy skin has all the girls scrambling to cosmetic counters everywhere to recreate the look. Her hair choice as well was perfect, tucked behind her ears to reveal those gorgeous earrings.  Her outfit was simple, yet so perfect in so many ways.
