Rather than packing our tanning oil and flip flops, we’re throwing wellies and band t-shirts into a backpack and heading down to some of the UK’s best festival campsites.
This year, I headed to Donington Park which is home to the UK’s biggest rock and metal festival; Download. Even though it was my third year going, the one worry for me was what will I be wearing?
If we should take note on fashion tips for festivals, who better to check up on than our favourite celebrities? Last weekend saw the triumph and highly sought after festival –Glastonbury. With headliners including Arctic Monkeys, Mumford and Sons and The Rolling Stones, all attendee’s knew that it was going to be a corker!
Although I didn’t attend, the first thing I did was check out the fashion highlights. Kate Moss, Cara Delevingne, The Geldof sisters and Lily Cooper were some of the British wonder women who attended the festival. So if you need tips for what to wear to any upcoming festivals, take it from these ladies: they know what they’re talking about.
Cara Delevingne rocked Glastonbury 2013 wearing a clashing patterned Helen Steele bomber jacket at Le Specs sunnies. If there is anything that we can see from Cara’s outfit, other than her impeccably fabulous urban style, is that she is well prepared for all elements!
British Supermodel Kate Moss and designer Stella McCartney enjoyed the sunny weekend together –perfectly dressed. Kate, who was dressed typically in black, arrived at the festival prepared with her floral rain mac. Stella on the other hand showed off her fabulous pins in denim shorts but kept covered by an awesome bomber jacket with a skull motif.
Rita Ora brought the glamour in a white and yellow dress, whilst roughing it up with some black ankle boots. The singer then performed later on in a fiery red tasselled ensemble, which set her to be a star amongst the attendee’s. Don’t be afraid to wear colour to a festival!
Doctor Who babe Billie Piper showed us all how it’s meant to be done at a festival. She wore a pink dress covered up by a khaki green, oversized parka jacket, topping it off with the pinnacle of festival gear; Hunter wellies. I have a pair myself and have had them for three years, I definitely recommend them!
The Geldof sisters Peaches and Pixie are no strangers to fashion, so it’s no surprise that they rocked it at Glastonbury. Peaches wore a midi lace dress with a slip underneath, pulled-down grey socks and black ankle boots with a vintage Chanel bag. Her sister, Pixie, wore camouflage shorts, a plain white tee with Chelsea boots and a blue bag. Perfect! Remember keeping it simple works well at festivals.
For me the one who rocked the best fashionably was none other than British model Suki Waterhouse. The 20-year-old had a few sparkling outfits, this one being excellent in itself. Suki’s outfit which consists of a prom-style dress and a leather jacket is similar to Rita Ora; glamorous but with an edge. Her hair is also one of the reasons why Suki takes home best dressed, tussled and care free – no over styling , perfect for a summer festival!
