Some of you may or may not know that one of my favourite designers is the incredibly flamboyant and talented Mr Henry Holland.  Today saw the first day that Henry Holland took on a new Identity; Mr Quiffy, after his statement quiff.  Holland has taken a unique spin from the traditional ice cream van and turning it into his very own moving pop-up store.

In an interview with Vogue.com Holland said: “I loved the idea of doing something that wasn’t your average shop launch and the concept of an ice cream van felt weirdly on brand.”  The ploy is not only to promote House of Holland’s new limited collection ‘Mr. Quiffy’, and website but  also to trial a moving flagship store, to find out who  ‘our customer really is’ before opening their first flagship in London, Holland went on to say to Vogue.com

Throughout the day Holland and House of Holland have been tweeting and posting photos on Instagram to promote the brand and also to update their movement. The van driven by Holland himself will open up shop at 5.00 this afternoon in Covent Garden till Saturday before moving onto Carnaby Street, Seven Dials, Spitafields, ending up at his home town of Manchester.

The Mr. Quiffy Collection:

Holland has created the perfect capsule wardrobe from techniclour printed tees to a unique HOH IPhone case.  True to Holland’s prints and style the capsule collection illustrates the best of his tongue in cheek humour and bold and bright patterns.

The collection showcases not just all womenswear but also hopefully not a one off piece of menswear; a Mr. Quiffy print tee, pricing at £65 online.  The price may be a bit much for us students but this unique tee is perhaps thee printed tee to have this summer. Holland has also designed a pair of shorts with miniature Mr. Quiffy’s printed symmetrically down wards.  There is also a matching Mrs Quiffy tee for your girlfriend or best girl-friend.

The other Printed tee’s for women include ‘lick me’ printed on a vibrant green polka dot and purple block tee and a Mr. Quiffy Squeeze tee, where a hand is placed just under the bust area. These humorous and multi-colour designs not only scream very much of the 80’s and 90’s but also Holland’s signature traits, which are becoming more apparent in each of his collections.

Other items in the capsule collection feature a contrasting polka dot and striped tube skirt, dress, and Print tee. These particular items are bound to set you apart from the crowd in the last of the summer months and even more so if worn during autumn and winter.  As well as the IPhone case other accessories include printed caps, polka dot scarfs, and Mr. Quiffy jewelry.

In the future will we see other designers driving round In an Ice Cream van selling their own designs? I hope so.

 Final note:

It is rather fitting and ironic due to the fact that as I am typing the last few words of this article I am whisked away with the musical tune of an Ice cream van passing by my house (Unfortunately it isn’t Mr. Quiffy’s).
