It’s the end of a gruelling week and it’s once again time to see who made it on this weeks spotted. Now I know what you’re thinking, nothing will ever compare to the heart-wrenching feeling of not being able to attend New York Fashion Week. Well, I feel you. I really do. So I’ve dedicated a third of this week’s Spotted to Rashida Jones looking ultimately fab at NYFW, the others are dedicated to Dakota Jones and our favourite Royals Will and Kate.
Spotted: Rashida Jones at the Tony Burch show
Whilst attending the Tony Burch show a few days back, Rashida Jones wore one of the designers dresses from the Spring/Summer 2013 collection. It seems as though floral tea dresses are flying off the rails in shops like Topshop, River Island and online stores like ASOS. Personally, I am not surprised because of their ability to be dressed up with heels and your best clutch or down with a leather or denim jacket and chunky ankle boots. Rashida proves to show the former of those options with cut-out heels, a red clutch and red lipstick. The dress I’ve chosen to mirror that of Rashida’s is ‘Autumn Floral’ tea dress from Topshop, priced at £45. We all know that it’s a hit or miss with Topshop pricing but I would consider it pretty good for this kind of dress. The slightly plunging neck line and synched in waist makes it great for a night-out or occasion dress but would look great with a chunky cardigan when days get a little chillier.
Spotted: 21 Jump Street star Dakota Johnson at Don Jon premiere
You might know her as one of the feisty undercover cop in 21 Jump Street, but I certainly know her as a fashionista. Dakota Johnson attended the premiere for Joseph Gordon-Levitt’s new film ‘Don Jon’ wearing one of my favourite staple items: an LBD. This high neck little black dress worn by Dakota is by Cushnie et Ochs and is perfectly teamed with a Saint Laurent bag and Gianvito Rossi heels, but the one thing I love most about the whole ensemble is that it’s all black. Black certainly is the new black for Dakota and for most of us during the upcoming autumn and winter season.
So if an LBD is something that is missing from your wardrobe, I have a perfect solution that is so similar to Dakota’s choice it’s almost scary – in a good way of course! ASOS isn’t only known for having its own brand but also being host to many other brands such as River Island, Primark, Cheap Monday and many many more. The dress I found is an equally high neck, equally short and equally as little black dress as it gets and is by leading brand Mango. The £39.99 price tag is something that I’ll leave for you to decide, but with ASOS’ student discount option; it won’t be much of a hard one to make!
Spotted: Will and Kate’s first public appearance without baby George
Most of my friends know how much I simply adore Kate Middleton. I don’t know if it’s her morals, her gorgeous dress sense or her shinier-than-shiny-things hair but she’s a real goddess. However, this weeks Spotted isn’t partially dedicated to Kate – it’s dedicated to Prince William. Nothing quite says handsome like a perfectly fitting tuxedo worn by Will himself. But I cannot tear my eyes away from that cute-yet-dapper bow tie. I personally think that ties are out this season and in come the bow tie. Whether it’s a plain black one for your posh event or a bit more of a kooky one for everyday use then channel your inner Blaine from Glee. The bow tie will be sure to make you look like a stylish James Bond.
Thankfully Topman have your back in two ways; they have both smart and kooky bow ties and they have self-tie ones and ones that are already tied up for you. While their simple black bow tie ranges from £8-£14, dependant on the self-tied option, the coloured and slightly off-key options are around £10. My personal favourite is the monochrome hound’s tooth bow tie with a sturdy price of £10 to suit all of your accessory needs!
