Apart from the incredible DMU Designers that showcased their work at Katie Meadway’s event; ‘Fashion For Cancer’, there were also a great collection of brands that brought some of their work for the gorgeous models to show off.

The brands that were at the event included: Able, Bleak Apparel, Cage City, Glamorous, Moss Bros, Peaked Apparel, Rachel Hyde, Small Black Flowers, Square and Velvet Johnstone.

I’m giving you guys the lowdown on some of my favourite outfits from the catwalk and why…

The first outfit that I adored was worn by model Suzie. She wore a gorgeous tartan, bodycon midi-dress with long sleeves that were rolled up. The dress, from Glamourous, was perfectly teamed, in a grunge way, with heeled ankle boots, a loose necklace dripping with looped gold chains and a clutch bag made from a book courtesy of Rachel Hyde. The reason I love this outfit is not because of its evident grunge that I love, but that it’s so simple. There is nothing worse than an outfit that is too busy and too crazy and sometimes, with tartan especially, it’s easily to add too much to the outfit – making it not as on-trend as it once was. This is a great outfit for evenings out and can be made casual with flat ankle boots and a leather jacket.

Alice wore the next outfit I loved, which consisted of a great mixture of clashing patterns. A striped shirt, with vertical lines around the main area of the shirt and horizontal lines across the breast pockets, was matched well with very arty-looking diamond print trousers and black pumps. The jacket, a mixture of faux leather and mesh on the sleeves, is a great jacket to help cover up on these chilly November days – and what a way to dress up the outfit with a gorgeously chunky necklace. Similar to the first outfit, this clashing beauty is great for evenings as well as during the day and can be downplayed with converse or Dr. Marten-style boots.

Call me crazy, or very into mad men’s fashion, but when Ben entered the catwalk wearing a white t-shirt with a bird print, loose trainers and a knee-length tartan kilt, I can officially say I’ve seen it all. It’s inspiring to see stuff like this in the fashion world, it’s very John Galliano-meets-Marc Jacobs, men who have both been known to either wear a kilt themselves or have men’s skirts in their collections. Heading back, again, to the first outfit, Tartan is very in at the moment and it’s not just for women. However, if you’re a man who isn’t too confident in wearing a kilt whilst not celebrating your Scottish heritage, head to Topman or Zara for a great collection of mens apparel in the gorgeous Tartan theme.

If you’re looking for something maybe for a night out, a day shopping with friends or an outfit that screams ‘I’m just heading out for cocktails with the girls’, then you need to check out the outfit worn by Victoria. She entered the catwalk arm-in-arm with male model Matt wearing a matching ensemble of a patterned jacket and skirt, made even cooler with a #selfie t-shirt. While I’m one of the 1% that isn’t too keen on slogan t-shirt like this (thinking back to those horrendous ‘Geek’ t-shirts), this works really well with the evident cool-meets-fashion look that the fashion team at Fashion For Cancer were heading for. For this look, I’d add a majorly chunky necklace from ASOS, a silver hologram clutch courtesy of Topshop and a pair of majorly chunky ankle boots from Vagabond: my new favourite shoe maker.
