Leicester City remain top of the SkyBet Championship despite falling to a 2-1 defeat against struggling Sheffield Wednesday on Tuesday night

The Foxes got off to a great start when Anthony Knockaert’s strike helped the away side to an early lead at Hillsborough. The lead was short lived however, when just 6 minutes later powerful striker Connor Wickham levelled proceedings with a precise finish past the helpless Kasper Schmeichel.

The managerless Owls then stunned the away side once more as they took the lead soon after, and it was through the same source as Wickham capitalised on some questionable defending from the Foxes. Wickham nearly had his hat-trick when he let rip from all of 25 yards, only for Kasper Schmeichel to deny him with an acrobatic save.

Nigel Pearson’s side did come close to an equaliser later on with guild edged chances from Nugent and Vardy squandered as they pushed for an equaliser, but the Sheffield Wednesday defence defended admirably and held out for all three points at Hillsborough.

The defeat leaves Leicester still top of the Championship with only a superior goal difference separating them from second placed Queens Park Rangers.
