Spotlight on Sport: Canoe
A new society for 2015-16.
Whether you’ve never sat in a canoe before, want to develop your skills or just enjoy a good time and meet like-minded people, on and off the water, this is the club for you. Every club is what the members make it and, as a new club this year, you can help us shape DCC on river trips, in warm pool sessions and in the pub.
We aim to introduce members to the different paddling disciplines: white water, freestyle, surf, touring, and racing. With good local contacts we can develop the society in whatever direction you, the members, chose. We will also be working closely alongside Leicester University Kayak Society (LUKS).
What were the club’s accomplishments last season?
Ricky Millar competed for DMU in the BUCS White Water Racing who came first in his class K1 and came 14th overall on the leaderboard. He has now proceeded to compete for Team GB this summer.
How much does it cost to join your club?
£45.00 for new members without a DMU active card.
£5.00 for new members with a DMU active card.
Why should students join your club?
Whether you’ve never sat in a canoe before, want to develop your skills or just enjoy a good time and meet like-minded people, on and off the water. Whether your getting in a boat for the first time to paddling down grade 5 rapids, from competing in BUCS to providing safety cover for NSR. If you are adventurous or an adrenaline junky, this is the club for you.
Members of all experience welcome; hope to see you on the water!
