To continue our Dave’s Leicester Comedy Festivals previews, we’ve decided to give you one of the lesser known acts of the festival. But just because this one is a hidden gem (and precious stones wouldn’t look out of place on him), don’t let that put you off. Stephen Bailey, the fabulously flamboyant comic, will not only be making his debut at the 21st Dave’s Leicester Comedy Festival on Friday 7th February, but will be showcasing his work in progress debut Edinburgh show, the appropriately titled, UNWRITTEN.

Not titled such because it’s not finished (the title comes from MTV show The Hills), Stephen says: “I always thought my first hour was just going to be high camp fun, telling the stories of me mincing my way through life (and the streets), but then I fell in love and it all changed. This is MY break up album (move over Adele).” The gay but SOLO autobiographical show, showcases Stephen’s ability to spin any one of his numerous tales of hopeless romance into an anecdote to get a room roaring. And no show goes amiss without a celebrity accreditation, with Jane McDonald of Loose Woman calling the show, “Truly Unique.”

Stephen’s comedy is packed with charm, warmth, and observations that make the show easy to relate to, and that will probably be impossible not to love. Described as an ‘extremely relatable memoir’, UNWRITTEN will cover most of Stephens life until this point, including meeting ‘that guy’, but eventually parting ways. But after that, Stephen says: “it’s the journey of rebuilding it all because Prince Charming isn’t just waiting – you have to rebuild your independence, start dating again and finally get to a place where you don’t need to stalk their Facebook anymore!”

And let’s be honest, hearing someone talk about Facebook stalking their ex is a lot better than sitting in and doing it yourself. So if you find yourself stuck for plans on Friday 7th February, then you could a hell of a lot worse than spend a night at Duffy’s Bar with one if the rising flames in comedy.

Stephen Bailey will be performing UNWRITTEN at Duffy’s Bar on Friday 7th February. Doors are at 7pm with the show starting at 7:15pm. Tickets cost £6 and can be purchased through the link below or by calling: 0116 242 3595
