This week, the Alexander Wang collection for H&M will be released online and in select stores across the UK. The collaboration includes apparel and accessories for men and women in classic Alexander Wang style: monochromatic and sport-themed, with graphics and textures. This makes it one of the most anticipated high-street and designer collaborations ever. Here’s why:
It started with a surprise announcement on the Alexander Wang Instagram, we then caught a sneak peek of the pieces when they were worn by Rihanna out in public in September. When the collection officially launched on 16th October in New York with a fashion show inside an indoor track and field coliseum, fashion magazines and blogs across the Internet reported a scene of Missy Elliott performing, and celebrities such as Dakota Fanning in the front row, holding an Alexander Wang x H&M branded foam finger.
You’ve probably noticed the campaign starring model Joan Smalls, Raquel Zimmerman, and Isabeli Fontana, also spotted at the show was West Ham footballer Andy Carroll, who then featured in the November issues of every fashion magazine imaginable!
Judging from all the hype, this H&M collaboration will see even crazier lines than previous one like 2013’s Isabel Marant, which had fans camping outside stores and the website crashing multiple times when purchases were being made – you’ve been warned!
