This morning, news broke out that ‘Queen Bey’ will be working with Topshop to create an active-wear collection, which is currently named Parkwood Topshop Athletic Ltd, but will not likely be the real name of the brand.
The brand will include all of the typical pieces you might find in a range of leisurewear, including footwear, clothing and ‘accessories across dance, fitness and sport categories’, which means it will really appeal to all of the fitness and gym bunnies out there!
In a statement that Beyoncé released about the process, she said, “I could not think of a better partner as I continue to grow the Parkwood business. I have always loved Topshop for its fashion credentials and foward thinking.
Working with its development team to create and produce a technical and fashion-led collection is exciting, and I’m looking forward to participating in all aspects of this partnership.”
The interesting thing about this particular project is that it is a 50-50 venture company. In an interview with WWD, Sir Phillip Green said, “This is not a collaboration. This is about building a brand and building a business – a separate, proper business, with separate overhead and separate office…”
It’s clear that there is a lot to do considering this is a collaboration but on a much larger scale, so we might not see the start of this until late next year. But it is exciting, isn’t it?
