Canadian duo Purity Ring are back with a second album entitled ‘Another Eternity’, this week premiering the first track to be lifted from the impending release; ‘Reptition’. The track was unveiled by Radio 1 DJ Huw Stephens as part of an interview with Megan James and Corin Roddick.

Whereas previously the pair were unable to record whilst in the same room together, the second record has been self-recorded and self-produced, marking a shift towards James and Roddick becoming more confident musicians.

This more confident stance is audible within ‘Repetition’, it’s significantly bolder and brassier than the band’s previous output. Often inspired by the cold Canadian weather, this track embodies the chill through stark cold beats that create the perfect backdrop for Megan James’ vocals.

‘Repetition’ seems perhaps somewhat influenced by Kanye’s ‘Bound 2’ with mild shreds backing up the subtle brooding synths that are just noticeable in the background. It’s a patchwork of sound, with complexly simple overlays that get right under your skin wrapping itself around your bones and veins to keep your core being warm.

‘Another Eternity’ is the follow up to Purity Ring’s first 2012 release ‘Shrines’ and following the release of ‘Repetition’ the band also announced that they will be heading out on tour across the UK in April which will see them play The Institute in Birmingham on April 27th.
