Spotlight on Sport: Tennis

We have both a Men’s and Women’s team representing DMU in BUCS Leagues every year and Varsity. In 2013 Women were promoted from their division, won their varsity and subsequently won DMU Team of the Year.

Socials are every Wednesday starting at 8pm and goes on till the early hours (sometimes late) of the following morning. They involve 3 bars followed by the SU, many games, lots of socialising and a fair share of alcoholic beverages consumed. Guaranteed memorable and not so memorable moments throughout the year.

Tour is now a regular date in the Tennis diary which is a 6 day social! Lots of Sun, Sangria and the odd spot of Tennis.

What were the club’s accomplishments last season?

The women’s team won their varsity for yet another year running and the Men’s 2nd Team won their unofficial Varsity.

What is your most memorable moment from last season?

  • Varsity, especially with the support from all of the club
  • Tour Tour Tour
  • Sober socials like Laser Tag

What are your aspirations for this season?

The men’s team is aspiring to win the BUCS League and their Varsity for the first time in several years. The women’s team has lost most of their players so we will be hoping to recruit new players for the coming year to continue their success.

Traditionally Tennis hasn’t hosted charity events so this year the society plans to hold several events and become the most charitable society.

How much does it cost to join your club?

Membership for the society is just the one-off price of an active card for the year.

Why should students join your club?

Tennis Society will provide students with friends for life. Whether they want to play for the first time, 1000th time or just wish to meet new people and have lots of fun, DMU Tennis caters for all.

We play, we drink, we party, we laugh… we do it all!

To join DMU Tennis, find them at the Sports and Societies Fair on Thursday 1st October or get in touch via their links below:
