2024 saw a lot of new talent slowly start to gain names for themselves in lesser-known spaces, and here are my predictions for artists who could take their buzz even further.

EsDeeKid

With barely ten songs to his name, Liverpool’s EsDee gained a cultish following very quickly. This was partially due to the emerging UK alt-rap scene to which he has ties to. EsDee’s established a very aggressive take on the new wave of jerk rap, the sort that is designed for a crazy live show and pairing that with what’s probably the thickest scouse accent you’ve ever heard, and you have something very refreshing, fun and polarising. I can imagine once he has a tape out, people are going to either love or hate EsDee with a passion.

Rachel Chinouriri

Rachel is pretty big already, but I’d argue she can be even bigger. Her debut record ‘What a Devastating Turn of Events’ was met with commercial recognition and critical acclaim, but it feels like just the start. Her song-writing and musical ear are both absolutely elite, and there is always demand for honest and relatable bedroom pop. If Rachel only improves from her debut, I could definitely see her headlining festivals in the future.

Mitaya

Mitaya has been on the grind for a few years now, and it feels inevitable that it will pay off. If you go on YouTube and search ‘plugnnb remix’ for any popular 2010s pop song, and you’ll get a cutesy upbeat trap beat over the original song, and it works a treat. Mitaya’s acknowledged this more so than anyone, labelling herself as basically the pop-rap version of PinkPantheress. Her sound feels as though it should be extremely marketable particularly as it has a very fun and relatable approach; she tackles fun upbeat wholesome vibes as well as very sentimental topics effortlessly. All she needs is a TikTok hit and her numbers will skyrocket.
