World-renowned Queen Guitarist Brian May visited De Montfort University on Thursday 7th November to discuss his dark new book on Diableries.

Although known for his musical talents, it was not his guitar that sparked interest in his visit to Leicester, instead his new book ‘Diableries: Stereoscopic Adventures in Hell’ took the stage.

His life-long passion in collecting stereo cards, an early example of 3D imagery popular in Victorian times, brought him together with De Montfort University’s very own Denis Pellerin, a doctoral researcher at the Photographic History Centre, and Paula Fleming a Photographic Historian.

Together they created this book, which brings all but two Diableries cards in existence together, and are viewable as the creators would have wanted, in 3D, using a stereoscopic viewer supplied with each book.
