5 ways to wear the dreaded ‘pinafore’ dress
The pinafore dress is a must have in your winter wardrobe this year. To many people it can be seen as quite scary, nevertheless if you wear them right they can look absolutely fantastic. Here is your guide on 5 completely unique ways to wear your pinafore dress, demonstrated with my black velvet ASOS pinafore. (£35.00)
The ‘simple’ yet classic
The first way to wear your pinafore dress is simply to wear it paired with a long sleeve top. This is an easy yet elegant look and teamed up with an over-sized blazer and boots, you have the perfect look for a drink with friends!
These funky boots are a bargain at £19.99 from New Look so no excuse! Even for students… The jacket is £75.00 from River Island, and over-sized blazers are the perfect way to stay cosy. The top was a Primark steal and only cost a couple of pounds – definitely a winter must have!
The slightly ‘punk rock’
The second possible way to wear your pinafore is with a checked shirt underneath. This look is perfect for wearing casually, especially if you have a slightly more alternative style. Tartan is a massive hit this winter so what’s one more tartan shirt to add to the collection? Team this up with a cosy parka and some Dr Martens to complete your look.
The coat is from Topshop, they have great winter coats this year! (£95.00) The boots are Dr Martens at £110 from Office and the shirt is vintage!
Let’s throw in some pastel colours shall we?
Next up is the classic pastel colour trend! Pinafore dresses look divine with a pretty blouse underneath, and what better way to do it than with some beautiful pastel colours? This look is great for a date or a lunch with friends and again is super easy to wear. Add some accessorize and you’ve also got yourself the perfect outfit for a night out. A fur coat and some heeled boots complete this look and give a very sophisticated finish!
These gorgeous boots are an asos classic at £65.00 and the fur coat is yet again another Topshop find (have you guessed my favourite shop for coats yet?) at £68.00. The shirt is from the h&m sale and was an absolute bargain at just £7.00!
Looking pretty in pink
Wearing your pinafore with a jumper underneath is the perfect way to stay warm and cosy this winter. What better way to do just that than wearing your girliest pink jumper and feeling like a fashion princess whilst trying to fight off wind so cold it takes your breath away! This outfit would be great for a girly shopping trip or coffee with the girls! Teamed with a leather jacket and some divine brogues you can’t go wrong.
The jacket is £180 from Topshop so a more expensive choice, but a good leather jacket is always an essential. The shoes are £30 and I’m sure you can guess where they are both from… Topshop! The jumper is cropped and is from h&m.
The vintage classic
Finally to finish the looks, is probably the most simple of them all. Match your pinafore with any baggy t-shirt underneath to give your outfit the vintage feel. Team this outfit up with a Harrington jacket and some more funky winter boots and you have a very ‘cool’ casual outfit to wear in the day.
These boots definitely aren’t everyone’s cup of tea but if you do fancy giving something new a go River Island have great ones for £45.00. The Harrington Jacket is £35.00 from Loveclothing.com.
Hopefully everybody is now fully prepped on exactly how to wear your pinafore dress this winter and I advise everybody to go out and buy one right now. Mine is definitely my favourite Autumn/Winter buy so far this year and whether I am wearing it to work or wearing it on a night out I just can’t get it off!
