Inspired by Anna Landi’s spotted article from this week, here are my best dressed men of the week, which is going to become a regular feature.
What makes a well-dressed man?
If there was one outfit which could spruce up any man’s wardrobe would be a suit. It is not just the staple item of clothing every man should own but it is a timeless classic which has adapted itself to the modern times. Where it may not be deemed normal to wear a suit everyday unless you’re a suave business man, there are elements of the suit you can adapt for your own wardrobe.
Take a note out of Douglas Booth’s book as he has done just that. Donning a heritage charcoal blazer and formal trousers, Douglas has taking elements of classical suit attire and dressed it down for a night out. Douglas has matched his heritage combo with a plain white circle neck tee. Male students of DMU take note, where you may not feel up to dressing up every day for uni you can dress dapperly yet casual with a herringbone or heritage blazer, jeans and a casual tee. The heritage combo worn by Douglas Booth is a perfect outfit for going out for drinks with friends or for a first date (to those lucky few) during the winter months.
This week Lead singer of Maroon 5, Adam Levine was named People’s sexiest man of the year. So what can us men take from Adam? Not only is he a heartthrob for all the girls due to his dark hair, slight stubble and tattooed body, his dress sense isn’t bad to. Where I don’t suggest having a full body transplant to look exactly like Adam Levine, you can however adapt items from his wardrobe. Where Adam looks smart in his suit he does not always dresses as suave. It would probably take a whole article to go through Adam’s different looks the best way to get the sexiest man of the year look is pairing, black skinny jeans a plain tee and a leather jacket for the colder months for a true rockstar look.
Drawing further inspiration from this weeks spotted article by Anna for my last best dressed man of the week it would be Sam Clafin at the premiere of Hunger Games: Catching Fire. Sam Calfin who is famous for roles in movies such as Pirates of the Caribbean and Snow white and the Huntsman plays Finnick in the movie; one of the tribute in the quarter quell games. Circling back to what makes a well-dressed man then Sam Calfin in his outfit below is perhaps the best example from the week. The blazer has become a staple outerwear necessity in every man’s wardrobe and where there are various style and materials to choose from the most dapper one would have to be the Velvet blazer. Deemed as perhaps too much for a casual night in town or to uni, it certainly wasn’t too much for Sam this week. Paired with charcoal trousers Sam proves that you can wear the blazer down and not just for black tie evenings. High street brands such as Topman have various velvet blazers in classic black and ruby red for any occasion this season. The blazer may be worth investing in when it comes to those Christmas parties.
So there you have the three best dressed men of the week. Who will appear on the list next week? And more importantly will you like me be investing in some pieces from Douglas, Adam and Sam’s wardrobe?
