Try and picture this, just for a minute…
You’re locked in a cold, creepy, abandoned old gym. For 48 hours. With 19 other people. All deprived of sleep. Being voted on and off the radio by the public. And being forced to compete against one another in a series of tough challenges.
Sound like hell?
That’s exactly what 20 crazy and excited Demon Media members are doing in just three weeks to raise as much money as possible for ‘Raise and Give’ (RAG) week.
From 11am on the 28th January 10 pairs of DemonFM presenters will be begging you for your votes to #GetMeOnAir!
For 48 hours Demon FM, 107.5FM, will be a blank canvas.
The station will rehome itself in the John Sandford gym for two days and you get to decide who you want to listen to by voting for your favourite presenters to go on air.
Do you want Michael Poole to get a tattoo? Do you want to see Harry Dean dye his hair? Or someone shave their head?
YOU get to decide!
Edward Crofts Station Manager at DemonFM said: “We really wanted to push the boat out this year and do something different.
“The last two years we’ve done marathon shows but only involving two presenters, who we chose. This year we’ll have 20 presenters and you choose!”
But that’s not it.
The 18 presenters who you don’t want on air will be living together in a sectioned off part of the gym competing against each other in a number of bizarre challenges.
After 24 hours, every two hours will see the pair of presenters with the least amount of votes evicted – no doubt with a horrible forfeit to do.
And you’ll be able to watch every minute of it as Demon TV stream live the ‘Living Room’ and all its eventualities as they unfold.
It’s a Big Brother/I’m a Celebrity cross – an event guaranteed to be massive and not to be missed.
Edward Crofts added: “This is what student media is all about. It’s a chance for people to bond and work together on an exciting and challenging project, whilst having fun.”
All this is being done to raise money for two amazing causes. A national charity, MacMillan Cancer, and a local charity, Nottingham Hospitals Charity Research Fund, the major trauma unit for the East Midlands.
A 50% split will be made between the two charities.
Make sure you watch this space, and follow the #GetMeOnAir hashtag, over the next few weeks to see who is mad enough to be entering and some of the hilarious challenges that presenters will be competing in.
