STYLE“Fashion can be bought. Style one must possess”- Edna Woolman Chase

This is one of my favourite quotes of all time when it comes to fashion, mainly because I believe there is great truth in it. Many seem to fail to distinguish between the two but realistically they are two completely different things, and I think this is important to be noted.

I see fashion to be an art; one that follows trends and one that people strive to have. Style on the other hand expresses own individuality in a way that people can admire to. Style is certainly harder to achieve and many mistake fashionable with stylish.

So why is there so much confusion?

Well, many can argue that people can be stylish if they are fashionable but not stylish if they are not fashionable. But I think this is outdated. I think style is something that’s very personal to each individual and each person has a different way of expressing it.

Style is eternal, whereas fashion is ever changing and evolving, it’s not personal to an individual unlike style is. However, that doesn’t mean that fashion is a bad thing. I love the way it’s always changing as I think that’s part of what makes it so interesting.
