Snow Sports 2

Spotlight on Sport: Snow Sports

Demon Snow Sports concentrates mostly on skiing and snowboarding, and these are what we compete in, however we aim to encourage other snow/ice sports such as ice-skating over the year, too. Every Wednesday night you will find us letting our imaginations run wild with games, themes, challenges, and anything else we decide to throw at you!

Our tour this year will run from 18th-26th March, taking us to Tignes in the French Alps. This will be filled with more of our challenges plus organised events which will be announced soon; keep an eye on our social media for more information!

Considering our climate, we make regular external trips to the local dry slope and indoor slopes. We also run lessons for beginners and for more experienced skiers and boarders. This year we intend to compete in BUCS, win Varsity (with your help!), take part in King’s races, and go further than ever before!

What were the club’s accomplishments last season?

Last year we lost Varsity (although a great time was had by all), which is why we need your skills to transform our record! We should have also received an award for the number of piste poles we split last year in Les Deux Alpes…

What is your most memorable moment from last season?

Tour in general was a biggie; there’s a certain sense of family, and we had an awful lot of comedic accidents, including: taking out a piste pole, losing ski’s on lifts, face-planting, ‘penguining it’, and completing a black run face-first!

What are your aspirations for this season?

This year we intend to compete in BUCS, win Varsity (with your help!), take part in King’s races, and take advantage of everything thrown at us!

How much does it cost to join your club?

We are one of very few clubs which are free to join; take advantage of this!

Why should students join your club?

We’ll bring you drinking, skiing, snowboarding and comradeship. What more could you want?
