Inspired by Game Of Thrones, Vikings, Willow and Dragonslayer, Doherty created BOAR. His second one-man show since WOLF, in which he played ex-policeman hero Patrick Wolf (among other characters), in the fictitious world of Shadow City. BOAR sees Doherty transform his talent for impersonations and multi-layered character plots once more.

Doherty’s BOAR offers a new, darker perspective of creativity within the fairy-tale genre. BOAR provides a contrast to the genre to engage viewers in the new world with his artistically performed as a one-man show.

In BOAR, Doherty welcomes audiences to the Kingdom of Skadi.

Edinburgh Fringe describes the show as:

‘A place of adventure, a distant land where pirates, bounty hunters and thieves do battle in a world on the brink of destruction. With the King’s daughter captured by an evil dragon, who will survive in this quest of epic proportions and formidable consequences?’

‘A one-man fantasy adventure tale. Prepare for arrows to roll and heads to fly in this action-packed hour of swords, sorcery and swill!’

‘This is exceptional. To play all the parts, provide all the sound effects and keep us all in the seats for that hour was just one of the best theatrical experiences I have had for some time. Docherty inhabits the story, not just the characters or the dragon, but the story.’

‘BOAR is something unique, Doherty delivers a performance that is flawless and utterly compelling. Even if you aren’t a fan of the fantasy world this story occupies, trust me, you will still be transfixed by the performance that is on offer.’

Evening Theatre

Through the madness of imagination, and barbarianism, Doherty’s different take on the fairy-tale genre offers audiences a contemporary piece of theatre.

This is a must see for fans of contemporary theatre and of one-man shows, book your tickets now before a pirate, bounty hunter or thief has the chance to strong arm you out of the queue!
