At the end of yet another highly fashionable week in the year, this week’s spotted is dedicated to three people in the celebrity world who brought it.
Spotted: Harry styles wearing his heart on his sleeve
The first comes from an unlikely fashion icon who I like to call Mr.Hair because thats all he is: hair. It’s none other than Harry Styles. The One Direction member was out and about wearing a black suit teamed with a Burberry heart print shirt, which made me swoon more than the guy wearing it. (Note: I’m not a One Direction fan, sorry!) Now, although I scoured far and wide to search for a similar heart print shirt – I only found women’s ones. However, our fashion heroes, ASOS, have many a printed shirt for every kind of gentleman. The one I’ve found is a £25 short sleeved shirt with a pin-up girl print covering the previously black shirt. Make like Harry Styles and team it with a black suit or even jeans if you’re feeling more of a casual vibe.
Spotted: Once again Olivia Palermo
Now, my next best dressed from this week comes from a lady who was mentioned in my last best dressed: Olivia Palermo. Here you can see the American Socialite and ex-reality star walking an extremely fluffy dog, whilst wearing a fabulous outfit.
If there is one thing that I love most about Olivia’s ensemble is her jeans. A lot of people are up in arms about ripped jeans. While some would agree with me that it really brings an edge to your outfit, others would disagree and say it looks scruffy. Believe it or not, there are all types of styles in jeans that have rips in: boyfriend jeans, skinny jeans, ankle grazers and even bootcut jeans.
So heading to Topshop to find these £42 beauties would be a must, right? Well, if you can’t quite afford the price tag that normally follows with a lot of Topshop items, then I have a cunning plan on how you can roughen up your jeans alá Miss, Palermo. If you lay your jeans out in front of you and get hold of some sand paper, you’ll be able to create your own holes and scuff marks in your jeans by rubbing the sand paper on to any area of your jeans. Or if you don’t have sandpaper a grater would work just as well.
Spotted: Model Joan smalls at this year’s VMA’s in Brooklyn
Model Joan Smalls was one of the many model attendee’s of this years MTV VMAs (check out my fashion highlights from the event) wearing a gorgeous Viktor and Rolf A/W’13 dress. The white, dropped waist dress is something that caught my eye as it is particularly grunge-y if you wear it the way that Joan has. She wore it with the sleeves pushed up, dark plum lipstick and gorgeous black heels by Casadei.
In terms of high street and where you can find this dress if you love it as much as I DEFINITELY do, then head over to ASOS. One of the mini brands that is under ASOS’ wing is a brand called The WhitePepper. They have created a dress similar to Joan’s except for colour. It has a long sleeve, which can be pushed up or left at its original length as well as the dropped hem. The dropped hem is a particular trend for the upcoming season because it’s a change from having the hem around your waist or under your bust. It allows dresses to be a bit baggier and looser coining my idea of being a bit on the grunge side. However, the £55 price tag of the grey WhitePepper dress may cause a lot of you to turn away, but fear not! If you’re strong enough to brave the student-repelling price tag, then you’ll be one step ahead for Autumn/Winter 2013-14, that’s a promise!
