The 60’s is my favourite decade of fashion for many reasons; it brought a new sense of bravery into the industry that embraced bold and bright clothing, which succeeded in making a statement to whoever wore it. This decade saw the emergence of monochrome patterns, mini dresses, psychedelic prints and not forgetting to mention – the classic mini skirt!
It is these reasons that I think the 60’s should be brought back for 2015 fashion as it would be a shame to have this style lost and forgotten. It’s a decade of fashion that can be modernised to create a new statement look that’s both fashionable and reflective of your own personal style.
There are currently several items in high street shops that are bringing back this decade perfectly. In terms of bold prints and patterns, there are many leggings and shorts to choose from that would easily make statement. These can be purchased from any of the main high street stores such as Miss Selfridge, Topshop and River Island.
Mini skirts can look great when paired with the right accessories, and they’re certainly a feature of the 60’s that can easily be replicated. If the skirt is pattered always pair is with a plain, simple top so that the focus of attention is on the skirt, as its winter wear it with tights and a long jacket for a timeless look.
If you’re looking for a new look this year then the 60’s style is certainly one to give a go, and with the start of the New Year there couldn’t be a better time to do it.
