If you’ve recently visited the De Montfort Students site, seen over on the DMU social media pages, or even read the articles right here on Demon Media Online, you’ll know that April and May are full to the brim with award ceremonies that celebrate our societies, sports teams, volunteers, student reps and of course, the fantastic members and contributors of Demon Media.
If you’re attending any of these events and struggle with knowing what looks best – ladies, I’m looking at you this time – then we’ve put together some handy tips with outfits and the best places to shop!
So let’s not hesitate any longer!
First up is a jumpsuit courtesy of Missguided.co.uk. The scallop mesh panel on this gorgeous piece separates the ‘top’ from the ‘trousers’ and creates an interesting detail to an otherwise plain jumpsuit. Combine with silver jewellery and your favourite nude lipstick and the night is yours. Make sure you take advantage of the current 25% off student discount currently available on the Missguided site now!
If you’re not too keen on a jumpsuit, try a playsuit instead! This Alice & UO printed number from Urban Outfitters will set you apart from the crowd because of its grey, black, yellow and white graphic print and casual fit. This playsuit would look great with white heeled sandals and a yellow clutch.
If you’re more of a dress girl, then the next few will be sure to tick all the boxes whatever your style.
Fancy indulging in a little bit of pink? This Quiz dress with a black lace hem is perfect for any evening occasion such as an award ceremony. With black accessories to finish the outfit off, you’ll be sure to look the part whatever your choice of occasion!
Prefer a simple monochrome outfit? Not a problem! This Nawell dress by TFNC via Topshop is great for those who like interesting styles for a good price. At £35 (plus 10% student discount with UNiDAYS!) this dress can be used again in a more casual setting after a night on the town winning the awards you deserve.
Zara are known for their simplistic yet seriously stylish clothing, especially during the spring/summer months. So try this striped turtleneck dress if you fancy something a little more nautical in your wardrobe. Perfect with a nude makeup palette and beachy waves, this dress will certainly get you places if you like something a little more easy going!
If you’re in the middle of monochrome but like a touch of colour, this colourblock bodycon from Miss Selfridge is right up your street! At £28, this dress is a great price and allows you to mix and match your accessories and shoes according to the pink, black and white of the dress. This item would go great with a leather jacket to add an edge to the outfit.
A dress/top style that is currently quite popular within high street style is the ‘Bardot’. The extreme off-the-shoulder style in dresses and tops are a good pick for any evening occasion. This one in particular is a firm fashion favourite and is a bargain at £22 from ASOS. The long sleeve midi Bardot bodycon (*breathe*) is a sexy, classic and sleek number that can look great with matching black accessories or a vibrant tone for a pop of colour. Don’t forget your UNiDAYS student discount here too!
Last, but certainly not least, is one of Anna’s favourites: a good, easy, classic co-ord. This particular one is, again, from ASOS, and is a perfect option for a smart-casual look. With flat sandals or Converse; this outfit is perfect for a summery stroll or shopping trip, but with black sandal heels, an oversized clutch and your A-game, this two-piece will go from laid-back to evening wear at it’s best. £72 for both items might be a bit out of your price range, but don’t forget – each piece can be worn with other items. With the top, a white midi or short denim skirt, and with the top, a loose tee or cropped button down. Versatile is key for summer!
